I developed a love of baseball at an early age - 4 to be exact. The New York Mets were in a new stadium in Flushing, Queens and it was directly across from the 1964 World's Fair. My dad took me to a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in brand new Shea Stadium for my 4th birthday. I remember sitting in the upper deck and watching the planes fly in and out of Laguardia Airport. We lived less than 20 minutes away on the Number 7 Subway line so that began a lifelong interest in the Mets and baseball in general. My dad passed away in 2005 but had made it to opening day that season for our 28th consecutive opening day at Shea Stadium. Shea was then torn down to make way for a newer ballpark, Citifield.
Dad and Shea are no longer here but both live on in the plaza behind home plate of Citifield.
Let's Go Mets!!!!!!!!!
